Sales performance during the four months of 2021 resembles to a Formula 1 race in which the safety car is ahead of the F1 cars

The sales of the Group, in the first four months of 2021, were for the first time since the beginning of the year in positive territory, recording an increase of approximately + 24% y-o-y compared to the corresponding four months of 2020, while in the first quarter of 2021 sales were reduced by approximately -11% y-o-y.

Greece
The net sales of the parent company in the first four months of 2021 - excluding intragroup sales - increased by approximately + 5% y-o-y.

In April 2021, the 75% of the Group's stores in Greece reopened, with strict and disproportionate restrictions, relative to the size of the stores, with regard to the number of customers allowed in the stores and only through the click inside or click away method. The stores in Thessaloniki and in the shopping malls remained closed for the most of the month. As a result, their contribution during the critical Easter season was negligible.

Cyprus:
The stores continued to operate with a restriction on the number of customers allowed in the stores. However, the entire network remained closed during the Holy Week and remained closed during the week after Easter (total lock down). Sales during the first four months of 2021 increased by approximately + 33% y-o-y.

Bulgaria:
The majority of stores started operating on April 12th, with a restriction on the number of customers allowed in the stores. The sales of the network recorded an increase of approximately + 64% y-o-y in April 2021 and as a result the sales in the first four months of 2021 increased by approximately + 32% y-o-y.

Romania:
All 14 Jumbo stores in the country were open with restrictions regarding the opening hours, recording almost three times the sales of April 2020. As a result, sales in the first four months of 2021 increased by approximately + 74% y-o-y.

It should be noted that despite the positive sales rate of the four-month period, the return to the normality for the retail sector is a difficult, painful and complicated process, given the extremely strict restrictions placed on Jumbo as well as on other retail stores of a similar size, in relation to our direct competitors which are the Hyper-markets
